Homicide Detectives Probe Shooting Death Of Man In Artesia

ARTESIA (CBSLA.com) — An argument between a group of men and a patron at an Artesia restaurant Saturday morning ended with a fight outside the eatery and a man being fatally shot.

The incident took place about 12:20 a.m. in the 11600 block of South Street.

The victim, who was reportedly hit in the torso, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials said the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle described only as a compact.

No suspect information was available.

Man Accused Of Fatally Shooting Brother-In-Law In Temecula

TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) — A 63-year-old Temecula man is accused of fatally shooting his brother-in-law near the Pechanga Reservation, according to authorities.

Nelson Virgil Allen was arrested Saturday in connection with the murder of 42-year-old Donald Piper.

Sheriff’s deputies said Piper was shot at least once in the 12000 block of Pechanga Road.

Officials said the two men were involved in a long-standing family dispute.

Deputies were dispatched at 11:02 am for a shots fired call, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tyson Voss.

Allen is being held on a $1 million bail.
